Examples summary

In March 2020, Tokyo International Airport (also known as Haneda Airport) has begun operations at its newly renovated International Terminal 2. AGC Fluon® ETFE Film (500 μm thickness) was selected and installed as the innovative roofing material covering approximately 9,000 m2. The lightweight Fluon® ETFE film allows for reduced structural steel support verse conventional roofing materials allowing for lighter weight and more open and appealing aesthetics. ETFE film also offers high fire retardant performance due to a self-extinguishing property which contributes to the design of a safer airport facility. In addition, design and interior comfort are also improved by thermal insulation performance of the two-layer Fluon® ETFE film cushion roofing system. Additional thermal control is provided by AGC’s proprietary technology of multilayer frit printing of high reflection ink resulting in reduced solar heat gain inside the terminal building.
