O-rings for mechanical seals

O-rings for mechanical seals

O-rings in mechanical seals are required to be withstand exposure to various chemicals. AFLAS® has superior chemical resistance compared to FKM. *The illustration above depicts a dual seal made by CHESTERTON.

O-rings for marine engines

O-rings for marine engines

Coolant inside large diesel engines contains anti-corrosive additives and some of these can damage FKM. Because of this, the higher cost product, FFKM, is sometimes used. However it is known that leakage problems can occur due to its poor elasticity. AFLAS® has similar chemical resistance to FFKM and better elasticity than FFKM. AFLAS® not only has a cost advantage but also a longer service life.

O-rings for Steam Resistance

O-rings for Steam Resistance

FKM will harden if it comes into contact with steam which contains anti-corrosive agents, even if only a very small amount. AFLAS® has excellent steam resistance and has proven extremely reliable in this application.

O-rings for downhole applications

O-rings for downhole applications

O-rings are exposed to corrosive gas like sour gas (H2S), high temperature steam or basic mud in downhole applications. Rubber parts made from AFLAS® survive longer under these harsh conditions.

Transmission Seals for automotive

Transmission Seals for automotive

AFLAS® has excellent chemical resistance against additives in engine oils, transmission oils and heat resistant greases. FKM hardens in these fluids, but AFLAS® maintains its elasticity for longer.

Turbo Hose

Turbo Hose

AFLAS® can be extruded into hoses that provide excellent chemical resistance which is not possible with FKM. It is not only used in automotive applications but also in the chemical processing industry.
