Fluon® ETFE Film
Fluon® ETFE Film is a high-performance fluoropolymer film manufactured by AGC from our raw material. Due to its very good properties of heat resistance, chemical resistance, optical transparency, and non-adhesiveness, it has a wide variety of applications from electronics, aircrafts and solar cells to kitchen products and wallpaper.
Fluon® ETFE Film Functions and Features
Good weatherability and optical transparency
Fluon® ETFE Film offers good light transparency, allowing ultraviolet light and sunlight to pass through. It features good weatherability from ultraviolent to infrared light, and provides strong light transparency and mechanical properties even when left exposed outdoors for a long time.
Superior heat-resistance and chemical resistance
Fluon® ETFE Film is a UL standard 94VTM-0 flame retardant material that can be used in a wide range of temperatures (from -200°C to 200°C). It has good resistance against most chemicals like strong acid or strong alkaline chemicals.
Good non-adhesiveness and advanced mechanical properties (flexibility)
Fluon® ETFE Film features good non-adhesiveness, releasability, and stain resistance that are characteristic of fluorine. It is also highly flexible, and demonstrates an uniaxial tensile elongation of 400% or more even under room temperature. Its strong non-adhesiveness and flexibility mean that it can be used in a wide variety of instances as a release film or stain resistant film.
Fluon® ETFE Film Usage and Examples
Fluon® ETFE Film is a fluoropolymer film with unique features. It offers good properties such as heat-resistance, chemical resistance, weatherability, optical transparency, non-adhesiveness, and electrical insulation, and is used in an exstensive range of applications, from direct materials for industrial products such as solar cells and indirect materials such as release film for electronics, to roof/exterior materials for large-scale sports stadiums and membrane structures.
Fluon® ETFE Film Usage
The following are some of the uses applications of Fluon® ETFE Film.
Protective film/back sheet material for solar cells
Fluon® ETFE Film offers good weatherability. It degrades little under sunlight, and hardly degrades or loses optical transparency even after 10 or more years of use. It also offers good tear strength and high flexibility, so it will not tear easily even if scratched.
Release film for electronics
Fluon® ETFE Film boasts high temperature heat resistance. It can be used at temperatures exceeding 200°C where it still retains exceptional releasability and moderate cushioning. Other than ETFE (its main ingredient), Almost no additives or plasticizers are used, so it will not contaminate products or devices. It can also be applied using either side interchangeably.
Film for membrane structure roofs/exteriors
Fluon® ETFE Film comes in a variety of colors to suit your design needs. It is often used in membrane structures such as stadiums due to its superior weatherability and mechanical strength.
Fluon® ETFE Film Examples
Following are some major examples using Fluon® ETFE Film.
Allianz Arena (München, Germany)
Fluon® ETFE Film was used on the surfaces of one of the famous membrane structures, “Allianz Arena” soccer stadium in München, Germany.
Semiconductor mold release film
Fluon® ETFE Film is recognized as an industry-standard cushioning/release film in semiconductor molding processes.
F-CLEAN® green house film
This green house film is provided by AGC Green-Tech Co., Ltd. In addition to the properties of fluoropolymer films, this product includes functions required in green houses, such as flow drop processing technology and UV protection.
