AGC receives “Encouragement Award” for its long-standing contribution in research and development of Flemion™ (fluorinated ion exchange membrane) at 40th anniversary of Electrolytic Technology Symposium

05/12/2016

AGC attended 40th Electrolytic Technology Symposium (hosted by The Electrochemical Society of Japan, cooperation by Japan Soda Industry Association, The Japanese Society of Functional Water and Molten Salt Committee) held at Act City Hamamatsu Congress Center on November 17th and 18th 2016.  At this symposium AGC Chemicals Company received “Industrial Electrolytic Technology Encouragement Award” for its research and development activity over the years on quality & performance improvement of its own product Flemion™ (fluorinated ion exchange membrane).

This symposium was initiated in 1977 to enhance electrolysis industry to convert from mercury method or diaphragm method to more environmentally friendly ion exchange membrane method.  Since the establishment it has been acting as discussion board for members to exchange their experiences and knowledge on electrolysis technologies.

This year has been its 40th anniversary – the symposium invited many authorities in the industry, key manufacturers of electrolysis and also electrolyzer manufacturers. (approximately 100 attendees)  AGC has been awarded Achievement Award in the same category in 2015 – receiving 2 honorable awards in two consecutive years.
